Paul T. Rewerts, 92, of Ackley, Iowa died on Friday, July 3, 2009, at The Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with Pastor Tom Bower officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to the family. Paul Theodore Rewerts was born July 13, 1916, the son of Jerry and Ramie (Johnson) Rewerts. He was born and raised in rural Ackley and attended rural school. On October 15, 1943, Paul was united in marriage to Bernice May Harken in Ackley, Iowa. They farmed near Ackley and produced seed corn for O's Gold Seed Corn Company of Parkersburg. Paul was partners with his brother-in-law Rionald Gerdes in a John Deere Implement dealership in Aplington, and then later Paul owned the John Deere Implement dealership in Grundy Center. He loved woodworking and antique cars. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Paul was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Bernice of Ackley; two sons, Noel (Dorothy) Rewerts of Wellsburg, IA; Alan (Vicki) Rewerts of Ankeny, IA; daughter, Ilene (Larry) McLain of Davenport, IA; grandchildren; Matthew (Stephanie) Rewerts of Boone, IA; David (Rebecca) Rewerts of Cumming, IA; Brett Rewerts of Wheatridge, CO; Richard (Kristi) McLain of Highlands Ranch, CO; Jennifer (Christian) Cohen of Lakebay, WA; 8 great-grandchildren, one sister, Ida Frey of Cedar Falls, IA and one sister-in-law, Ruth Rewerts of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Raymond Rewerts and a sister, Annetta Gerdes.
