Paul Primus

November 25, 1928 — February 21, 2015

Paul C. Primus, 86, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Valley View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Eldora, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, with Pastor Bruce Baillie officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hoover-Eiserman American Legion Post #542 of Steamboat Rock. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Paul C. Primus, son of Claus B. and Esther (Fricken) Primus was born November 25, 1928 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1946. During WWII, Paul honorably served in the United States Navy where he was stationed at Barbers Point Naval Air Station on Oahu in Hawaii. Following his honorable discharge in September of 1949, he returned to Steamboat Rock and continued farming. On August 23, 1955 he married Jane Davis at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora. The couple resided in Eldora until 1956, when they moved to the family farm south east of Steamboat Rock. He also was a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 23 years.

Paul was a member and past president of the Eldora Kiwanis Club in which he served since 1978. His memberships also included being a lifetime member of the Pine Lake Wildlife Club; lifetime and charter member of the Iowa River Conservation and Improvement Club; and member of the American Legion
Hoover-Eiserman Post #542 of Steamboat Rock.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth R. (Kristi) Primus of Steamboat Rock; Don K. (Rosanne) Primus also of Steamboat Rock; grandchildren, Jordan (Cara Roberts) Primus and Bailey Primus; sisters, Ruth J. Primus and Gail R. Blair both of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Jane, he was preceded death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Truman Blair.
