Paul J. Hurley, 60, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, October 3, 2005, at his residence in Reinbeck, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 7, 2005 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, in Reinbeck with Father Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2005 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. There will be a 6:00 P.M. Scriptural Wake Service on Thursday evening. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.



Paul was born December 2, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Cornelius James and Philamene Anne (Getta) Hurley. He was raised in Waterloo and attended Columbus High School, graduating with the class of 1963. Paul served his country during the Vietnam War with the 79th Army Band. In 1963 Paul began his career with John Deere. On October 5, 1968 Paul was united in marriage to Mary Dee Hass. After their marriage Paul and Mary made their home in Waterloo until 1973 when they moved to Reinbeck. Paul continued his education and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Wartburg College in Waverly in 1987. Paul was a 32 year member of the American Legion Action Post #242 and was Post Commander in 1976. He was also a member of the Reinbeck Theatre Guild and the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.



He is survived by his wife Mary; two sons Tom Hurley of East Peoria, Illinois, and Patrick Hurley of Reinbeck, Iowa; his mother Philamena Hurley.



He was preceded in death by his father, Cornelius; and his two brothers James Hurley and Mike Hurley.
