Paul R. Graham of Grundy Center passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. A Celebration of his life will be held at Grundy Center United Methodist Church, Saturday, September 20 at 11: 00 am with Pastor Phil Dicks officiating. Lunch will follow. A visitation will be held Friday, September 19 at the Methodist Church from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be given in Paul's name to the American Cancer Society or Cedar Valley Hospice.
He was born January 30, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Paul E. Graham and Ruth (Smith) Graham. He graduated from Grundy Center High School in the class of 1950 and attended the University of Iowa. In 1958 he and Kay Simonsen of rural Reinbeck were united in marriage. They lived in Waterloo and Cedar Falls where 3 of their sons were born. In 1962 they moved to Broomfield, Colorado where their fourth son was born. Paul traveled selling law books at that time. In 1964 they moved to California and lived in Cypress, California for many years. He became a stock broker and worked successfully for many years in Long Beach. Paul and Kay retired to Grundy Center in 1993.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years. He is also survived by sons James, Jeff and wife Sherri of Allen, Texas; John of Aliso Viejo, California; Jerry and wife Kelly of Allen, Texas. He had 6 grandchildren, Tyson, Corey, Jarrett, Tyler, Samantha, and Jordyn. Also surviving are two nieces Linda Leach, Lori Koch and one nephew Scott Graham all residing in California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty Graham McBride, brother, Charles and sister in law Barbara Graham, and an infant granddaughter, Nicole Rae Graham.
