Patricia Coughlin-Fike-Whitney

Patricia Ann Coughlin-Fike-Whitney, 75, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.  A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Pastor Robby Grames officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.  Arrangements were made with the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa.  Online condolences may be made to Patricia’s family at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com

Patricia Ann Coughlin was born on January 22, 1942, to William and Mildred (Sullivan) Coughlin in Waterloo, Iowa.  She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Leo Fike in 1958, and they welcomed three children: Randy, David, and Debbie.  Leo passed away in 1968.  Later she married Donald Fike and welcomed her daughter, Rachel.  The couple later divorced.  In 1979, she was united in marriage to Laverne Whitney.  Pat worked at the New Hampton Healthcare Manor for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband, Laverne Whitney of Grundy Center, Iowa; sons, Randy (Kim) Fike of Flower Mound, Texas and David Fike of Traer, Iowa; daughter, Rachel (Darrin) Farmer of Kansas City, Kansas; stepsons, Mike (Sue) Whitney of Waverly, Iowa and Neil (Brenda) Whitney of Frederika, Iowa; stepdaughter, Rachel (Allen) Slagle of Little Elm, Texas; and her 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
