Norman E. Behrns, 93, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M., Saturday, April 21, 2007, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2007, from 12 Noon until 8:00 P.M., with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established.
Norman Edward Behrns was born November 29, 1913, in Effingham County, Illinois, the son of Edward and Emma Behrns. He attended rural country school near Tripoli. On December 11, 1936, Norman was united in marriage to Rhoda V. Classen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm north of Traer where they farmed until 1974 when they moved to Reinbeck. During the winters, the couple lived in Elephant Butte, New Mexico. They also enjoyed their fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. After Norman's wife Rhoda died on March 20, 2003, Norman continued to make Reinbeck his home.
He is survived by his daughter Therese Waller and her husband Tom of Traer, Iowa; two grandsons-Chad Waller and his wife Tammi of Traer and Justin Waller and his wife Sara, also of Traer; five great-grandchildren-Ryan and Aaron Waller, Alyssa Sickel, Travis and Evan Waller, all of Traer; one niece Anna Robins of Inverness, Illinois; one nephew Rodney Alleman of Irving, Texas; one brother-in-law Robert Alleman of Irving, Texas; and one sister-in-law LaVera Behrns of Traer, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rhoda; one brother Virgil Behrns; and one sister Agnes Dreessen
