Norman Arends

July 24, 1941 — January 15, 2013

"Storm'n" Norman Ray Arends, 71, of Dike, succumbed to the trials of life on January 15, 2013 at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Dike United Methodist Church in Dike. Inurnment will follow the service at the Stout Cemetery.

Norman was born in Fern, Iowa July 24, 1941. He graduated from Dike High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge. He served on the Waterloo, IA Sheriffs Dept., was Police Chief in New Hartford, IA., volunteered on the Dike, IA and Reinbeck, IA Fire Departments as a Hazmat/EMT and retired from Traer Manufacturing. He helped out on the Parkersburg Fire Department until he was unable to do so.

He is survived by his 4 children Rodney Grandon (Lori) –VA , Ann Ceaser (Rick)-TX, David Arends- IA, and Julie Junker (Terry)-IA, 11 Grand Children, Heather Watkins (Ray) – WV, Maggie Grandon – NC, Alex Grandon – VA, Christopher Ceaser (Marie)-TX, Crystal Hanson (Eric)-IA, Nicole Arends (James)-IA, Jessica Ceaser – TX, Tamiko Kelley - IA, Hailey Junker - IA, Emilee Junker - IA, Jacob Junker - IA, and 5 Great Grandchildren, Kevin Hanson - IA, Leila Ceaser – TX, Logan Hanson – IA, Kingston Ceaser - TX, , Mackenzie Kleiner – IA, and 1 sister Lynda Berry (Bob) – IA. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Arends, mother Angeline Arends and brother Roger Arends.
