Norma C. Ostrem, 87, of West Branch, Iowa and formerly of Eldora, Iowa died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Branch. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa with Pastor Brent Hartwig officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa.
Norma Charlene Tietz, daughter of Charles and Mary Schwebke Tietz was born on March 17, 1928 in Eldora, Iowa. Norma graduated from Owasa High School in 1945. On March 17, 1956 she married Virgil Ostrem at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa. The couple resided on the family farm in rural Eldora. In 2005, Norma moved to Iowa City, Iowa and in 2012, moved to West Branch, Iowa. Norma's hobbies included sewing, reading, cooking, embroidery, quilting and crocheting. She also loved spending time with her family.
Norma is survived by her sons, Allan (Wenda) Ostrem of Iowa City, IA; Philip (Julie) Ostrem also of Iowa City, IA; her daughter, Rosemary (Dennis) Cooling of Kellogg, IA; six grandchildren, Andy (Erica) Ostrem, Erin Ostrem, Nick Ostrem, Amy Ostrem, Grant Cooling and Samantha Cooling; two great grandsons; and her sister, Lula Mae Doering of Iowa Falls, IA.
In addition to her husband Virgil, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Tietz and her parents.
