Nancy Stewart

November 30, 1915 — September 14, 2011

Nancy Isabelle Stewart, 95, of Eldora, passed away on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 at the Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 20th at 10:30 A.M. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Interment will be private.

Nancy was born to Andrew Gold & Anna (Watson) Heddle on November 30, 1915 at the Ottumwa, Iowa hospital. She lived in numerous places such as Stratford, Dayton and Thornton, IA due to her father's credentials as a Methodist minister. Nancy went to many schools in her growing up years and graduated from Thornton High School in 1933, where she also met her future husband, Hubert Davis Stewart. The two were married on May 26, 1934 in Northwood. She and Hubert also lived in various cities before settling in Radcliffe, IA, where they opened a plumbing and heating business and raised their four children. From that moment on, she had two roles in life, first being a mother and second being a manager and secretary in the family store. In 1978, Nancy and Hubert decided to retire and moved to Lead Hill, Arkansas. After a nine year residency in Arkansas, the couple decided to return to Eldora to be close to some of their family. Nancy lost her husband in September of 1996 but remained in the apartment they had rented since 2002, where she transferred to Valley View Nursing & Rehab Center until her death.

She is survived by her four children Sherrill Norem of Eldora, Virginia John of Lakeside, Arizona, Andy (Diana) Stewart of Centerville, Texas and Donna (Paul) Lawler of rural Union; 15 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren.
