Naaman Haren (95) of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice on September 2nd, 2016. A public visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 8th, 2016, at the Engelkes Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. A graveside service will follow. Engelkes Abels Funeral Home is caring for Naaman and his family.
Naaman Haren was born to Hubert and Elsie (Reynolds) Haren on March 25th, 1921, in Grundy Center, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating with the class of 1938. Following his education, Naaman served in the United States Army during WWII. During that time, Naaman earned three Bronze Stars for his efforts in the Tunisian, Rome-Arno and Naples-Foggia campaigns. After his honorable discharge, Naaman and Margaret Sperry were united in marriage in Grundy Center, Iowa, on February 12th, 1949. They would later divorce. Later in life, Naaman met Mary Johnson, and in 1954 the two were married in Waterloo, Iowa. Mary would pass away in 1994. Naaman was a farmer for most of his life, working a farm north of Grundy Center for most of his life, until his retirement.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister; Laura Marie Haren (Sperry) of Worland, Wy, Nephew; George Hubert Sperry of Worland, Wy, Nieces; Melinda Lee Briggs (Sperry) and Sally Marie Sperry of Worland, Wy.
In death, Naaman rejoins his parents; Hubert and Elsie Haren (Reynolds), wife; Mary Arlene Johnson, ex-wife;Margaret Sperry.
