Myrne Billerbeck

August 23, 1920 — January 4, 2017

Myrne Minnie Matlida Billerbeck, 96, of Reinbeck, Iowa passed, away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Reinbeck Cemetery.

Myrne was born on August 23, 1920, in rural Lincoln, Iowa, to her loving parents Marcus and Clara (Martens) Billerbeck. She lived on a farm in rural Lincoln for 16 years. She then moved to the Dysart area in 1936. She graduated from Geneseo High School. Myrne lived in the Dysart area for 6 years and in 1942, she moved to a farm in rural Reinbeck. There she lived for 12 years until she moved to Reinbeck in 1954.

Myrne worked at the Reinbeck Canning Factory, Pioneer, and for over 20 years in the lunch room of the Reinbeck Community Schools.

Myrne was a longtime member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ.
Myrne enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeye Basketball teams, and following her sisters, brother, nieces and nephews sporting activities. She belonged to a card club and enjoyed playing 500. Myrne also enjoyed gardening, however, her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.

Myrne is survived by her brother Donald (Ann Rae) Billerbeck of Reinbeck, IA, sisters Francine (John) Klahsen of Aplington, IA and Frances (Russell) Lorenzen of Ventura, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Leora Neil, Eunice Neil and Reva Billerbeck.
