Milton A. Voelker, 90, of Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa, formerly of Reinbeck, Iowa, died from congestive heart failure on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 28 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reinbeck with Reverend Bruce A. Boyce officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM on Wednesday at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Milton was born October 23, 1914 in Farmersburg, Iowa, eldest son of Edward and Celinda (Mohrman) Voelker. He attended school in Farmersburg graduating from Farmersburg High School in 1932. On June 4, 1937 he was united in marriage to E. "Alice" Friederich in Elkader, Iowa. He farmed for several years in the West Bend area and then worked as a mechanic for Gehringer Chevrolet in Reinbeck, Clark Chevrolet in La Porte City, and then as a mechanic for School Bus Sales in Waterloo. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.
Surviving are his sons, LeRoy (Lois) Voelker of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fred Voelker of Arroyo Grande, California, and Lyle (Lynette) Voelker of Waterloo; daughter, Yvonne (Bill) Bellows of Waterloo; by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, Don (Dorothy) Voelker of Ames; sister, Marie Hendrickson of San Diego, California; and by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Alice on January 17, 1998; brothers, Howard and Gerald; and by two granddaughters and a great grandson.
