Mildred M. Lott, 91, of Eldora, formerly Whitten, died from natural causes on Wednesday, April 05, 2006 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora while under the care of Amenity Hospice. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Community Church in Whitten with Pastor James Hartman officiating. A memorial fund is being established in her name. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred was born April 12, 1914 in near Garwin, Iowa, daughter of James and Augusta (Gronwoldt) Earhart. She graduated from Garwin High School in 1931 then attended Marshalltown Community College for a short time. On October 15, 1935 she was united in marriage to Harold Lott in Missouri. They made their home in the Whitten and Gifford, Iowa area. Mildred was a homemaker and mother and also cooked for some time at the Union-Whitten Schools. She attended the Whitten Methodist Church and then the Community Church of Whitten. Mildred enjoyed fishing with her husband, Harold in earlier years, baking bread, and was quilting until just a few days before her death.
Surviving are her children, Larry (Eleanor) Lott of Whitten, Dale Lott of Whitten, Bill (Sharon Hatch) Lott of Whitten and Darlene (Jim) Riggs of Urbandale; and by 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Harold on March 24, 1989; her parents; brother, Earl Earhart, and sister, Twila Smith.
