Maxine Wollesen, 88, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be made in Maxine?s name to Salem Church of Lincoln P.O.170, Lincoln, Iowa 50652.
Maxine was born March 29, 1919, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Johannes D. and Anna Katherine (Schulz) Wollesen. Maxine attended grade school in Lincoln, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1936 in Reinbeck, Iowa. After high school, Maxine attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, receiving her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. She taught kindergarten 41 years, nearly all of them in Charles City, Iowa. Maxine retired in 1981 from teaching. Maxine was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln and the Living Branches Group of the church. She was an active member of the ADK Teachers Sorority. Over the years Maxine collected dolls and was very proud of her large and diverse collection. Maxine and her sister Marlys crocheted Christmas ornaments to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
She is survived by her sisters, Marlys Wollesen (twin sister) of Reinbeck, Iowa; Ferne Robertson of Reinbeck, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Pete Wollesen; and one sister Hazel Jipp.
