Maxine Munsinger, 81, of Eldora died from natural causes on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastors Corey Larson and Fred Zimmermann officiating. Memorials may be made in Maxine's name to the "Dori Theland Campership Fund" in care of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Creps-Abels Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Maxine was born November 4, 1924 in Boone, IA, daughter of Martin and Veva (Conklin) Anderson. She was educated in Boone and on October 16, 1942 was united in marriage to Marion L. Munsinger. She moved to Eldora with her husband in 1949 and worked for Farm Service in Eldora and the Eldora Hospital as a business administrator retiring in the late 1980s.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ where she had served on the worship board and church council, sang in the choir, attended Bible study groups, and served as church secretary for many years. She was a former member of Pine Lake Wildlife Club, VFW Women's Auxiliary, worked on the Iowa Easter Seal Campaign, and served as a Girl Scout Leader. She also served on the board of Eldora Edibles Food Coop and helped to distribute the commodities. She enjoyed quilting and needlepoint, and enjoyed playing Bridge and 500 with her friends.
Surviving Maxine is her husband, Marion; children, Linda (Kevin) Black of Cypress, California, Arthur "Butch" Munsinger of Eldora, Carol (Fred) Zimmermann of Shawano, Wisconsin, Ann (Virgil) Pixler of Cedar Falls; sisters, Harriett Bentley of Ogden and Ruth (Leo) Ott also of Ogden; son-in-law, Doug Theland of Big Fork, Minnesota; and 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Doris Theland; and brothers, Eldon, Donald, Francis, Max, Arthur, and Clarence "Buddy" Anderson.
