Maurice Smith

Maurice Smith, 69, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa.

Following Maurice’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services through the funeral home. The family of Maurice will be hosting a celebration of life on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. on the Westend of Riverview Park in Marshalltown, IA located at 402 Woodland St, Marshalltown, IA 50158. The Family will be present to greet friends . Memorial contributions may be directed in Maurice’s name to his family which will later be designated elsewhere.  For further information or to leave a condolence please visit www.abelsfuneralhomes.com. Creps Abels Funeral Chapel is caring for Maurice and his family.

Maurice Smith was born on July 21, 1952. He was raised and educated in the Grundy County school district and graduated from Grundy Center High School.  Following high school, Maurice went on to Kirkwood College where he enjoyed with great honor.  Maurice always had a job that was helping others, he drove an ambulance for many years and worked at different nursing homes as an LPN assisting others and putting their needs in front of his own. His other passions in life were his Harley Davidson’s.  He took pride in his bikes and nothing made him happier than when he was riding on his Harley’s.  Although his Bikes did make him happy, nothing made him any more excited than the time spent with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Jessica (Stacy Barnes) Smith, Cody Roos and Jared (Dawn Huynh) Smith; seven grandchildren: Dakota (Lindsey Slifer) Plante, Quin (Eli Anderson) Damman, Miranda Damman, Kalob Plante, Izaak Seymour, Carlee Smith, and Jace Smith.
