Maureen married Carl A. Carlson on January 19, 1957 in Sioux City. They have also lived in Davenport/Bettendorf, Storm Lake, Ankeny and finally settling in Eldora for the last 37 years, raising four children along the way. She was a stay at home Mom until all the children were in school and then started working as a secretary in the Food Service Program at DMACC in Ankeny and when they moved to Eldora she became the secretary to the bank president at 2nd National Bank. Maureen enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in school programs and competing in sports and was a faithful attender at sporting events. She was very involved in her churches and the communities she lived in through the years. She regularly visited the nursing homes and showed a sensitivity for others needs and helped when she was able. She would provide transportation to several ladies for Bible study weekly. She was a member of Friends of Pine Lake for a number of years.
In the early years she packed for many camping trips, mainly at Gull Point State Park at Okoboji, Lake Rathbun and Pine Lake State Park. When they became empty nesters they enjoyed traveling to different parts of the country to visit their children and their families and other family members. One of Maureen's greatest pleasures was being surrounded by her family and she was able to visit with all of them in the last months of her life.
