Mary Lou Wrage, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 17th at her home in Hudson while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22nd at 10:30 AM at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck with Rev. Joel Love officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21st from 2 to 4 PM at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mary Lou was born on January 10, 1931 in rural Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph & Irene (Schrafel) Kubik. A lifelong Hudson resident, she attended school and graduated from Hudson High School in 1950. On December 12, 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Lester Wrage at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. The couple welcomed two sons into their family. She worked as a farm wife, alongside her husband Lester, for many years.
She enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, playing cards with her friends, was a wonderful cook and enjoyed dancing with her husband Lester. Mary Lou was always happy and had a smile on her face. What truly brought the most joy to Mary Lou's life was her family. Mary Lou and her husband Lester were never apart and their marriage was one to be looked up to. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends she leaves behind.
Mary Lou is survived by the love of her life of 64 years, Lester of Hudson; 2 sons Lynn Wrage and Kim (Cathy) Wrage, both of Hudson; 3 grandchildren Linsey (Chris) Gregory & Jesse Wrage of Hudson and Josie (Tim) Albrecht of West Des Moines, IA; 1 great-grandson Gage Wrage; brother Gene (Mary) Kubik of Hudson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
