Mary L. Rogers, 86, of Eldora, Iowa, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon on Monday, March 6, 2006, at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Crane officiating. Burial will follow at the Liscomb Cemetery in Liscomb, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, March 6, from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Mary was born January 30, 1920, in Marshall County, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Heintz) Cook. Mary graduated from Union High School in 1939. On June 14, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Robert L. Rogers in Kirksville, Missouri. After their marriage they moved to rural Liscomb where they lived and farmed for thirty years. They moved to Eldora for a number of years, and then moved to New Mexico, living there for ten years. In 1987, they moved back to Eldora. Mary's husband Robert died on September 2, 2003; and she continued to make Eldora her home.
Mary was a homemaker and farmwife for many years, and had also worked at the Liscomb Post Office and the V.F.W. in Eldora. Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to read, and enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by one son Craig Rogers and his wife Laurie of Rockford, Illinois; one daughter-in-law Betty Rogers of Eldora, Iowa; granddaughter Chris Brouwer and her husband Tracy of Parkersburg, Iowa and their children Shaylyn, Ashlea, Austin, and Colton Brouwer all of Parkersburg; granddaughter Pat Rogers of Eldora, Iowa; granddaughter Heather Jackman and her husband Jamie of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and their child Michaela Jackman; granddaughter Sarah Rogers and her fiancAsh Steve Schrandt of Hanover Park, Illinois; and grandson Kyle Rogers of Chicago.
