Mary Coleman

December 27, 1948 — February 24, 2017

Mary E. Bixby Coleman, of Dike, formerly of Grundy Center, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at her home in Dike after a sudden illness. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, February 27th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center where there will be a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 28th at 10:30 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in rural Reinbeck, IA. A private family burial will take place at the Rosehill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Mary was born on December 27, 1948 to Raphael & Eileen Siebel in Waterloo, IA. She graduated from Orange High School in 1967 and went on to work at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, for 25 years.

On April 28, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Roger Bixby. Roger passed away in 1995. Mary later remarried Dennis Coleman on May 2, 1998 in Grundy Center. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, and being back in town to see her grandchildren grow up.

Mary is survived by her husband Dennis Coleman of Dike. Other survivors include her three sons and their families: Tim & Sarah and their sons Carter and Grant Bixby of Dike, IA, Tony and Jean and their son Brock Bixby of Dike, IA and Chad & Alison and their children Benton and Maryn Bixby of Dike, IA. Mary is also survived by five brothers and two sisters: David (Bonnie) Siebel of Eagle Center, Bill Siebel of Hudson, John (Vickie) Siebel of Waterloo, Jeff (Kathy) Siebel of Eagle Center, Tom (Shellie) Siebel of Mesa, AZ, Sherry (Ron) Sell of Traer, IA and Lori (Dick) Platt of Waterloo; Brother-in-law Ron (Lori) Coleman, and sister-in-law Kathie (Evan) Petersen of Polk City, IA. There are also many nieces and nephews that Mary was very proud of. She is also survived by her Mother-in-law Jeanean Coleman of Grundy Center.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Raphael and Eileen Siebel, and her husband Roger Bixby.
