Marvyl Louise Priske, daughter of Thomas and Rose (Price) Priske was born February 5, 1935 in Eldora, Iowa. She received her education from the Eldora Public Schools, graduating in (1953). Marvyl attended the Americana University of Beauty) where she received her cosmetology certificate in 1955. On March 17, 1962 she married Hollis Perry in West Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in the communities of Bondurant, Colfax and Des Moines, where they raised their daughter. Marvyl worked for the city of Des Moines for 25 years as a secretary in a variety of departments, retiring from the Parks and Recreation Department in 1998. When her husband died in 1999, Marvyl insisted on being a hands-on grandmother with her first grandson, Christopher, spending many hours with him reading books, taking him to Quik Trip for slushies, and baking him special treats, especially banana bread. When her second grandson, Daniel, was born, Marvyl at the age of 73 drove by herself from Iowa to New Mexico to be present for his birth. When Marvyl's health changed and she had to give up her home, she rode an airplane by herself at the age of 77 to live with her daughter and family. In 2014, Marvyl relocated from Hobbs to Katy, TX and helped her daughter settle into their new home.

Marvyl enjoyed dancing, watching movies, knitting, painting, cooking, and gambling. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Democratic Party and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Michael Henning of Katy, TX; grandsons, Chris and Daniel Henning also of Katy, TX; brothers, Bernard "Bud" Priske of Eldora, Donald Priske of Texarkana, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews and friends, a few of them who were like family members when Marvyl's health declined and provided countless hours of assistance to her.

Marvyl was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis, her parents, and sister-in-law, June Priske.
