Marvin Lee Meester, 74, of rural Dike, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28h, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, just west of Fern, IA. Burial will follow funeral services at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27th from 4 to 7 pm at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home- Dike Chapel in Dike, Iowa.Memorials may be made to the family.
Marvin was born on August 11, 1937 at home in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tena (DeVries) Meester. He grew up in rural Grundy County attended schools in the Dike area graduating from Dike High School in 1956. Marvin farmed in Grundy County all his life. Marvin married Barbara Jean Myers on July 25, 1964 at Alexander Reformed Church. He liked to be outdoors working on his farm and with his farm animals. Marvin loved to spend time with his family and friends especially with his grandchildren. Marvin was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church where he served as deacon, elder and served on the new church parsonage committee.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Meester of Dike; daughter, Krissa (Joel) Krusemark of Ankeny; son, Chad (Karla) Meester of Dike; grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Brianna Krusemark and Colin and Kailyn Meester; sister, Rosie (Marv) Aalderks, of Parkersburg and brother, Al (Shirley) Meester of Dike and numerous nieces and nephews Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gayland; a granddaughter, Lindsey Krusemark.
