Marvin Allen James, Sr.

Marvin "Marv" Allen (Meheula) James Sr, 55 of Grundy Center passed away at home on Thursday, December 15, 2023. Abels Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Marv and his family.

Marvin was born September 5, 1968. After graduating from East High School, SP4 Meheula completed basic training / AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He was stationed at Fort Ord with the 14th Combat Engineer Battalion. Following his time in the Army he worked in loss prevention, event security and as a motor coach driver before becoming disabled. He enjoyed many group charters along with driving the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Iowa Hawkeyes and Wartburg Choir.

Marvin is survived by his daughter Nicole (Chris) Rhoads and grandchildren Bentley, Remington and HarperFaye, his former spouse and mother of his children Rhonda James, his father Chuck (Betty) James Sr. and siblings David (Kim) James, Leinaala (David) Meheula-Castaneda, Kimo Meheula, Renita (Phil) Weiskircher, Reba (James) Marabotto, Robin (Bob) Bright , sister-in-law, Cheryl Meheula; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sons Matthew Ronald James and Marvin James Jr., granddaughter Kherington Rhoads, and parents Marvin "Mike" and Estella "Rose" (Pinkston) Lee and brothers Chuck James Jr., Robert Meheula II, Ronald Meheula, and Reginald Meheula.
