Marlys Wollesen 90, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 19, 2010, at Salem Church of Lincoln in Lincoln, Iowa, with Pastor Wade Ditty officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 18, 2010, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with the family present to greet friends at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa. Marlys was born March 29, 1919, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Johannes D. and Anna Katherine (Schulz) Wollesen. Maryls attended grade school in Lincoln, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1936 in Reinbeck, Iowa. After high school, Marlys attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, receiving her Bachelors Degree. She received her Masters Degree in mathematics from the University of Iowa. She taught high school mathematics 41 years, in Independence, Iowa and Racine, Wisconsin and retired in 1981. Marlys was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln and the Living Branches Group of the church. She was an active member of the ADK Teachers Sorority. Marlys and her twin sister Maxine crocheted Christmas ornaments for many years to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
She is survived by her sister, Ferne(Harold) Robertson of Reinbeck, Iowa; eleven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johannes Dietrich and Anna Katherine Schulz Wollesen; one brother Pete (Genevieve) Wollesen; three sisters, Hazel (Emil) Jipp, Violet Wollesen and her twin sister Maxine Wollesen.
