Marlin Ray Peters, 78, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Monday, January 27, 2014, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. . Memorials may be directed to the family.
Marlin was born on September 3, 1935 in Tama County, Iowa, the son of Albert and Imogene. (Wieben) Peters. He graduated from Reinbeck High School with the Class of 1953. Marlin was united in marriage to Donna Ramige on May 25, 1958, at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. They welcomed two sons into their family. Marlin worked at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo for 25 years. He also owned and operated a confinement pit cleaning business.
Marlin was a life long member of the United Church of Christ, the Happy Hour and Sunday School Class. He was a member of Oak Leaf Country Club, Reinbeck Jaycees and Reinbeck Lion's Club. Marlin was an avid golfer, card player, fisherman, and bicyclist. Marlin enjoyed attending sporting events, reading westerns and trips to the casino. Most of all Marlin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandsons.
Marlin is survived by his wife Donna; sons Randy Peters and his wife Judi and Ronn Peters all of Reinbeck; grandchildren Austin Peters of Simi Valley, CA and Eric Peters of Reinbeck; aunt, Aletha Peters of Cedar Falls; brother-in-law, Ernie (Nancy) Ramige; niece, Kirsten (Tim) Strottman; nephew, Lucas (Corrie) Ramige and two great nieces and one great nephew all of Shell Rock, Iowa
He was preceded in death by his parents; Al and Imogene Peters and grandparents, John and Lizzie Wieben
