Marian Bicket Philp passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Life Center in Des Moines at the age of 80. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:30 A.M. at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Congregational Church of Christ, 225 Broad St., Reinbeck, IA 50669. She was born on May 15, 1933 to Lester and Inez (Boughton) Bicket in Dinsdale, Iowa. As a small child, Marian moved to Reinbeck, Iowa where she attended school, graduating in 1951. She married Edward Philp and they raised their six children in Reinbeck until moving to Des Moines in 1982. Marian had been residing at The Life Center in Des Moines the past two years suffering from a rare neurological disease (CBGD).

Marian was a member of P.E.O. and a life-long member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck where she taught Sunday school while her children were growing up. Marian was a great blessing to everyone she knew, the model of warmth and kindness. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Marian is survived by her husband Edward of 62 years; her son John (Roxie) of Omaha, Nebraska and her five daughters Susan Philp (Lance Clark) of Snowmass, CO, Diana (Tim) Adams of Meridian, Idaho, Linda (John) Wright of Carmel, Indiana, Sharon (Esfand) Dinshaw of Urbandale, Iowa & Jennifer (Steve) Johnson of Johnston, Iowa; She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren Heidi & Justin Philp, Valerie, Nathan & Ben Adams, Lauren Stephanie & Tyler Wright, Brandon & Kayla Dinshaw and Alyssa, Spencer, Gavin & Annabelle Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and older brothers Robert and Kenneth Bicket.
