Margery Dornsbach

March 17, 1913 — October 8, 2010

Margery Newell Dornsbach, 97, of Eldora died from natural causes on Friday, October 8, 20010. Following cremation, a memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora with Father Paul Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora City Cemetery. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Eldora Public Library, the Eldora Ambulance Service or the Eldora American Legion.




Margery was born March 17, 1913, in Eldora, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Laura (Robinson) Newell. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1931, and attended Iowa State University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi National Sorority. She was married to Robert Edward Dornsbach of Eldora on October 3, 1936. She and Robert lived in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Hibbing, Minnesota, and Newton, Iowa, before returning to Eldora in 1943.




Margery was active in the community, serving on numerous civic and social organizations. She was a lifetime active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She served as president of the Library Board and remained on the Library Board for many years. She was president of the PTA and a member of the Red Cross Board, United Fund, Hospital Auxiliary, Pine Lake Country Club, Monday Club and various bridge groups.




She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, of 51 years in 1987; her parents; three sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Bruce) Sheehy of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lynne Stacy of St. Petersburg, Florida; her granddaughter, Courtney (George) Kinzer and two great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Kathryn of Port. St. Lucie, Florida.




Margery's lifetime interests included art, reading and politics. Her life was well lived.
