Margaret passed peacefully on July 2, 2010.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6 at 10:30 am at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck with Pastor Joel Love officiating.Burial will follow the funeral services at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be held on July 5, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm at the French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck.
Margaret, age 94, was born July 27, 1915 to Vern and Emma Robinson. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1932. On August 26, 1938 she married Homer Miller. They have three daughters -- Sharon, Barbara, and Marion. Margaret taught country school four years and then married Homer. They lived with great joy for 71 years on their farm near Reinbeck. Margaret loved people. She fostered many deep, lasting friendships. She had a compassionate heart. Friends would say she never knew a stranger more than five minutes. Margaret treasured family and none more than her grandchildren and great grandchildren who visited Margaret and Homer countless times for fun-filled visits to "the farm." Family and farm crews knew Margaret’s excellent down-home cooking. Family and friends still enjoy her quilts and sewing. Margaret actively participated in P.E.O. for 76 years, and is a direct descendent of one of the founders of the local Chapter DQ.
Margaret is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and James Kempner, Barbara and Harry Ayer, and Marion and Jack Boyer; eight grand children including Sharon’s children Bonnie (Lee), Karen, and Robert (Meaghan); Barbara’s children Jeff (Catriona), Brian, and Adam (Denise); and Marion’s children David and Rita (Eric); and by 11 great grandchildren including Karen’s child Bonnie; Robert’s children Wyatt and Miller; Jeff’s children Gemma and Niles; Adam’s children Tatiana and Daniela; and Rita’s children Nolan, Cael, Molly, and Megan; 3 sisters, Daphne (Lloyd) Smith, Pat (Robert) Taylor, Catherine (Marv) O’Hare, and many friends and relatives. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Homer who passed away just two months prior, her parents and stepmother Amy, infant son Robert, and brother Lester Vern Robinson.
