Margaret Johanna Meyer, 93, of Holland, Iowa, died from natural causes on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, Iowa, with Pastor Larry Hoop and Pastor Larry Doughan officiating. Burial will follow at the Holland Cemetery, in Holland, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, February 19, 2007, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, where the family will be present to greet friends form 6:00 ? 8:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established.
Margaret Johanna Meyer was born October 12, 1913 in rural Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of John and Gertie (Kruger) Itzen. Margaret attended country school until the 8th grade, when she was needed to help at home. On December 7, 1939 she was united in marriage to Albert Meyer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Albert passed away on October 15, 1970. Margaret work for and retired from the Post Office in Holland. She worked there for almost 20 years. Margaret was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa. She served in the hospitality circle for several years.
Margaret is survived by her son Paul and his wife Beverly Meyer of Denver, Colorado; a daughter: Linda and her husband Leslie Meggers of Traer, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Mike, Tim, Joel and Susan; 5 great grandchildren: Angel, Justin, Trenton, Austin and Riley; and a brother John and his wife IvaDean Itzen of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Albert; a brother: Klaas Kruger; 4 sisters: Fannie Hasbrouck, Berdine Finke, Hermine Bergman and Louise Harken, and two siblings in infancy.
