Margaret Ann Martin 77, of Eldora, departed this life September 26, 2011 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at the Eldora United Methodist Church with Rev. Vicki Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora Cemetery. Visitation is from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Margaret was born to Wendell and Ruth (McEndree) Martin on January 13, 1934 at the Eldora Hospital. She lived on a farm south of New Providence and then moved to Toledo where her father was a dairy man. The family moved to Eldora where they ran the Hardin County Home. In 1953 they moved to Gifford where her parents ran the Gifford store and Post Office. Margaret graduated from Eldora High School in 1953. Subsequently her father's health failed and they moved to Eldora in 1966. Her father died August 19, 1968.
After her mother's death in 1974 she move to Handicap Village in 1975 and resided there until 1979. She moved to Marshalltown in 1979 and lived there until 1992 when she moved to Pine Lake Housing in Eldora.
She was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Red Hat Society. Margaret enjoyed listening to gospel music, attending church, reading the Bible, and visiting neighbors and the Red Hat Ladies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Martin; grandmother, Olive Martin; and Uncle Art McEndree.
