Margaret was born on September 13, 1926 in Hardin County, Iowa, to her parents Julius & Anna (Frerichs) Klettke. She attended school in Hardin Co., graduating from the Steamboat Rock High School in 1944.

In 1946, Margaret was united in marriage to Lowell Granzow and together, they farmed the family farm for many years together. The couple welcomed 4 children into their family. Lowell passed away in 2004. In 2007, Margaret married Gene Farmer. He also preceded her in death.

Margaret worked as a Nurse’s Aide, worked at the local dime store and was a secretary at the local seed corn plant. For a majority of her life, she stayed at home to care for her children and farmed alongside her husband, Lowell.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and playing cards in many card clubs. She also loved to golf, and was proud to say she had a Hole in One at the #8 hole, at the Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora! A very proud accomplishment for Margaret!  She also once had a side business making wedding cakes, and she and her husband Lowell, enjoyed raising Labrador retrievers together. She was very resourceful, tending to her garden and canning and freezing her produce. She also raised livestock to be a primary resource of food for her family. Her biggest accomplishment in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. It didn’t matter if you married into the family, she treated everyone the same and loved each one equally. She was a woman of strong faith and would want to be remembered for her love of every aspect of her life. She will be very dearly missed by her family and loved ones she leaves behind.

Margaret is survived by her children Bonnie Granzow (Jeff Johnson) of San Diego, CA, Peggy (Randy) Munson of Ankeny, IA, Jerry (Pam) Granzow of Urbandale, IA and Rick (Kelley) Granzow of Reynoldsburg, OH; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Morgan) Fuller of Eldora, Amy (Todd) Mullis of Earlville, IA, Brandi Spurlock of North Conway, NH, Jonathan Munson of Ankeny, Eric (Tabitha) Granzow of Waukee, IA, David (Kristy) Granzow of Hawaii, Matthew (Kate) Granzow of Urbandale, Angela Granzow (Joe) of Minburn, IA, Neal (Amanda) Buenz of Keizer, OR, Corey (Tiffany) Granzow of Circleville, OH and Chad Granzow of New York; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Lowell Granzow and Gene Farmer; 2 brothers Art (Dorothy) Klettke and Richard Klettke.
