Mardelle King, 84, of Eldora, passed away on Thursday, November 06, 2008 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Private family graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 8 at the Eldora City Cemetery with Reverend David Abram of Urbandale, Mardelle’s cousin, officiating. There will be no public visitation. Creps- Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
Mardelle was born December 29, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Hazel (Gibson) Garrett and moved to Eldora as a teenager, graduating from Eldora High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Raleigh King, Jr. in 1942. After Raleigh returned from WWII, Mardelle assisted him in the family business, King Oil Co. and was active in activities in the Eldora United Methodist Church.
Mardelle is survived by her sister, Betty Ridout of Omaha; daughters, Susan (Ed) Bear of Steamboat Rock and Peggy Farrell of Eldora; grandchildren, Lyn (Rick) Davidson of Bloomfield and Tami (Paul) Williams of Steamboat Rock; great-grandchildren, Nick Davidson, Cody Davidson, Ashlea Brouwer, Austin Brouwer, and Colton Brouwer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh; infant daughter, Celia; and four siblings.
