Magdalen Greiner

Magdalen B. Greiner, 97, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday January 20, 2008, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa.

Mag was born September 27, 1910, in Roseville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Josephine (Gerhart) Reis. She received her education in Roseville. On October 8, 1930, Mag was united in marriage to Paul Greiner in a double ring ceremony with her twin sister Cathryn and her fiancAC. Joe Greiner. After their marriage, Mag and Paul lived at Floyd Crossing until 1935, when they moved to a farm in rural Dinsdale. They lived there until they moved to their farm south of Reinbeck, living there until 1979. The couple then retired to Reinbeck. Mag's husband Paul died on March 30, 1999, and she continued to make Reinbeck her home, first moving to Westview and then to Parkview Manor in 2005.

She was a charter member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck, and active with the Rosary Society. She loved to play bingo, and card games of all kinds. She also enjoyed playing marbles with friends and family, making noodles, and loved to fish at Leech Lake in Walker, Minnesota. Mag also enjoyed traveling to Florida, where she and Paul spent their winters.

She is survived by three sons- Robert Greiner and his wife Edith of Mesa, Arizona and Baudette, Minnesota; Russell Greiner and his wife Anita of Reinbeck, Iowa; Kenneth Greiner and his wife Teri of Traer, Iowa; one daughter-Carol Sedlmayr and her husband Wayne of Guttenburg, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul; two daughters- Mary Louise in infancy and Berniece in 2000; two grandchildren-Monte and Mary Greiner; one      great-grandson- John Russell Lorenz; three sisters- Cathryn Greiner (Mag's twin sister); Theresa Kramer; Edna Ackley; and three brothers- Earl, Virgil, and Lewis Reis.
