Mae Jean Hoeppner, age 84, of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral service at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mae Jean was born on October 11, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa; the daughter of Emil and LaVonne Willer. She was raised in Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School in the Class of 1949. Mae Jean went on to earn her Diploma from Gates College.

Mae Jean was united in marriage to Bob Hoeppner on June 15, 1949 in Oelwein, Iowa. Together they welcomed their daughters Rebecca and Claudia into their family. She worked as a secretary in Reinbeck for both Pioneer and Iowa Electric.

Mae Jean was a lifelong member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. She served the church on numerous committees involved with food service. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Reinbeck. Mae Jean loved embroidery and was an avid reader. However, her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mae Jean is survived by her daughter Rebecca Hoeppner; granddaughter Melissa (Bryan) Riensche; grandson Jeffrey Havlik; brothers Charles, Larry and Dennis Willer; sister Marlene Peters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob; daughter Claudia Hirl; son-in-law Richard Hirl and sister Eleanor Willer.
