Mae Diehl Gould, 82, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Eldora United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Mae was born December 25, 1923, in Hardin County, Iowa, daughter of Otis and Mary (Blair) Waldo. She was raised in rural New Providence, Iowa where she graduated with the New Providence class of 1941. On August 2, 1941 Mae was united in marriage to Homer Diehl at New Providence and they farmed the Diehl Century Farm in Grundy County for 40 years. Homer died on July 30, 1981. On August 31, 1985 she was married to Colin "Kully" Gould at the Eldora United Methodist Church and they made their home in Eldora. After retirement in 1986 Mae and Kully over-wintered in Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed their many friends and activities with the Meadows Club. They also enjoyed their time golfing, traveling, dining together, and spending time with family. Kully died on January 13, 2002. She was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her children, Charles and Lois Diehl of rural Eldora, Dr. Craig Diehl of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and his special friend, Dr. Peg Morrison of Parker, Arizona; Colin's children, Kathy and Ken Theobald of Webster City and Dr. Steven and Mary Kay Gould of Knoxville, Iowa; sister Ruth Ryerson of Eldora; and by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Diehl and Kully Gould; sister, Dorothy McBride; and great-granddaughter, Sarah Diehl.
