Mae A. Collins, age 80, of Eldora, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center, with Chaplain John Sellers officiating. Burial will be held privately. Mae was born on May 1, 1932 in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Walter and Janette Lasfalk. Mae was raised and educated in Chicago and moved to Iowa as a young woman. She worked at Dodger Industries in Eldora for 10 years and for a variety of different companies in the Eldora area. She is best known for being the "Can Lady." She would push her cart all over town looking for spare cans to recycle. She is remembered by her friends a fun loving, cute character that loved to tease and was known for her friendly punches to a friend's arm.
Mae is survived by her sister Evelyn Trunk; 3 nephews, 2 nieces; many friends and her dear friends Mary (Ivan) Jaspers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bill Collins.
