Lorraine Schaa, 82, of Eldora, Iowa, died from natural causes on Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Lorraine was born November 20, 1922, in Kellerton, Iowa, daughter of Earl and Mamie (Main) Thomas. They lived in Ames for a short time before moving to Eldora where Lorraine graduated from Eldora High School in 1939. She taught school in Goose Creek Country School near Eldora before moving to California to work in an airplane factory during the war. She returned to Iowa moving to Stewart before marrying Paul Harold Schaa on January 27, 1946. They made their home in Eldora where Lorraine worked as a sales clerk for various businesses.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eldora, the American Legion Auxiliary, local womens' "Club 16", and to Pine Lake Golf and Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, and working jig-saw puzzles.
Surviving is her daughter, Pat Liittschwager of Wylie, Texas; son, Greg and his wife Janella Schaa of Steamboat Rock; sister, JoAnn and her husband Willie Hartkopp of Iowa Falls; and two grandchildren, Damon Wood and Jill Karns. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on October 3, 1993; sons, Stanley Dean and Thomas Joe; and daughter, LuAnn.
