Loren Jeske

October 11, 1939 — January 3, 2010

Loren E. Jeske, 70, of Eldora , Iowa passed away suddenly on January 3, 2010 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls after several years of battling a number of health problems. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Loren’s life was too short, but many of its joys were life-long: lifelong residence in Hardin County , IA , lifelong membership at St. Paul Lutheran Church and several lifelong friendships. His life was also blessed by a 1962 marriage to Judy Mann of Farragut, IA – and more than 47 years of “for better and for worse, in sickness and in health” until only death this past Sunday resulted in their parting in this life.

Loren was a member of New Providence High School ’s “Class of ’57.” He farmed in Pleasant Township and also worked in other agriculture-related jobs.

Loren “Chub” Jeske had a big appetite and a bigger heart. He enjoyed the camaraderie of good friends and being “Papa” to his loving grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Jennie (Meints) Jeske. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and his brother, Melvin (Becky) Jeske of Pratt, KS. He is also survived by three children and five grandchildren: Jeff (January) Jeske of Eldora and their children, Afton and Josh; Doug (Karen) Jeske of Johnston; and Lori Bell of Ft. Dodge and her children, Kaylee, Brayden and Brycen.

Loren also leaves a great many special memories. Of sweet corn deliveries and State Fair trips. Of bowling nights and watching Vikings and Cyclone games. Of Johnny Cash albums and visits to the ‘Bow. Of shared feasts and cold drinks. Of good times and great friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Good Shepherd Preschool, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the New Providence Roundhouse.
