Loren Dykstra

September 21, 1932 — October 16, 2008

Passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008.  Loren was born September 21, 1932 in Grand Rapids, the son of Clarence J. and Bertha (Veen) Dykstra and had lived in Kalamazoo for the past 16 years.  He had been employed by Allstate Insurance Company for 35 years as a claim manager and training director.  Loren was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church of Kalamazoo, was a 3 rd term Trustee for the Kalamazoo Public Library, had served as President of Timothy Christian School in Elmhurst, IL and was a former board member of several colleges, including Trinity Christian College in Chicago, and Calvin College Seminary in Grand Rapids.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett Primus on August 14, 2005.  Loren is survived by his children, Ellen (Donald) Stahl of Whitinsville, MA, Greg (Sabina) Dykstra of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Stuart (Ellen) Dykstra of Kalamazoo and Natalie Dykstra of Holland; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a brother, Thomas (Lois) Dykstra of Holland; nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 3:00 PM in the Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave. with Rev. Dick Stravers officiating.  Interment will take place in Iowa , next to Harriett.  The family will receive friends at the church on Monday beginning at 1:00 PM until service time.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association.

Graveside Services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Wellsburg, Iowa, with Pastor Tom Vos officiating.
