Lois I. Westerhausen, 88, of Eldora, died at her home on Monday, May 21, 2012. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
Lois was born March 13, 1924 in Eldora, daughter of George and Leona (Meyers) May. She was educated and raised in Eldora where she graduated with the class of 1942. On February 22, 1946 Lois was united in marriage to James "Slim" Westerhausen in Hampton, Iowa.
Lois had worked as a waitress for several years and at the Eldora Bakery before working for Whink Products for 32 years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and enjoyed quilting, and fishing with James.
Surviving is her daughter; Sharon Balvanz and her husband Loren of Eldora; sister, Dorothy Porter of Marshalltown; grandson, Chad Roy and his wife Maggie of Eldora; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Jaiden and Brenna Roy, and Nicole and Jaime Balvanz; step-daughters Jenny (Calvin) Kitchens and Kelli (Terry) Blythe; and step- grandchildren, Caden and Jerin Kitchens and Austin Blythe. She was preceded in death by her husband, James on July 27, 1999; grandchildren, Bradley and Brenda; brothers, Dale, Bob, Don and Dean May; an infant sister Mildred; and sister, Bonnie May.
