Lois M. Rogers, 89, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Eldora United Methodist Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Richard Boatman officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to Lois' family and will be used for multiple myeloma research.



Lois Margaret Wilson Rogers was born November 7, 1918 in Hubbard, Iowa, the daughter of Martha Zielske Wilson and Perry Wilson. Her mother died when she was 11 years old and Lois was raised by aunts and uncles in Spirit Lake, Chicago, Lakota and Eldora. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1936. Lois was a telephone operator until her marriage to Everett Dale Rogers on June 24, 1939 in Grundy Center, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Judy and Jack.



Lois was co-owner of Pine Lake Lumber and East Lawn Memory Gardens in Eldora, Northlawn Memory Gardens of Iowa Falls and Evergreen Memorial Gardens of Nevada, Iowa. Everett preceded her in death on December 9, 1977. She loved to travel and had been to Europe, England and Ireland, across Canada by train, and all over the eastern and southern states.



She was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, past Worthy Matron of Ascension Chapter 158 of the Order of the Easter Star, Rebekah's, Legion Auxiliary, past member of Pleasant Chapel Church and Pleasant Chapel Women's Society, and numerous bridge groups.



She is survived by her daughter, Judy Forney of Eldora; son Jack Rogers of Eldora and his wife Karol; five grandchildren, Michael Rogers, Christina Rogers, Valerie Cummo, Sara Shadle, and Jack Rogers II; two step-grandchildren, Kendra Hess and Meredith Flora; eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; sister Betty Chipman of Arizona; numerous cousins; and a niece and nephew. Preceding her in death was her husband, Everett; her parents; and step-father, Glen Stowell.
