Lily Ruth Itzen, 90, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Holland Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Lily was born on May 29, 1926 in Grundy County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lupke and Hannah (Eilers) Harms. She was raised in Kesley, Iowa and attended Kesley School through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Harm W. Itzen on March 15, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, Iowa. Together they welcomed five children into their family. Lily retired from Plastronics/Norwesco after 31 years of service.
Lily was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. Lily enjoyed working as an Avon Lady for many years. She enjoyed holidays and cooking, but her true joy in life came from spending time with her family.
Lily is survived by her children, Connie (John) Lenius, Candace Itzen-Pollock (William Pollock) and William (Bridget) Itzen; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother John (Marilyn) Harms; sister Violet Simone and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister Esther Lumley; husband Harm; and sons James Lynn and Steven Joel.
