Lester Ryerson

Lester "JR" Ryerson, 83, of Eldora, died on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. A family graveside services will be held at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Lester's family. Junior was born on April 25, 1929 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Lester Kiowa and Velda Louise (Rowley) Ryerson. He graduated from the Eldora High School where he was active in sports. He was employed as a truck driver for many different companies for many years and also drove for himself.
He was united in marriage to Neva Marie Nordyke in September of 1948. They had 2 sons, Steven Lester and Mikel Craig. He was later married to Cynthia Kay Mathews and they became the parents of Brian Keith.
Junior is survived by sons, Mikel of Ames and Brian (Tami) of Winterset; longtime friend and caregiver, Donna Albee of Eldora; by 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Clyde Everett Hixson; brothers, Robert Orville Ryerson and Carol Edward Ryerson; and by his son, Steven.
