Leonard Lewis Wyatt, 85, of Hudson, Iowa, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Thursday, March 9, 2006, at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Rev. Robert Fread officiating. Burial will follow in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until to the service. Military rites conducted by the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242. Memorials may be directed to the Hudson Community Church.
Leonard was born April 24, 1920, in Hudson, Iowa, the son of Ray and Hope (Nicholson) Wyatt. Leonard attended Hudson Schools. He served his country in the Army during WWII 1942-1946. In 1946 he married Ruby Abfalter. They resided in Waterloo. He worked for John Deere, Rath Packing Co., Waterloo Community Schools, and he retired from Montgomery Ward. The couple divorced in 1970. In 1971 he married Marlys Mauck Hanisch. Leonard and Marlys lived in Cedar Falls prior to moving to Canon City, Colorado. The couple moved back to Hudson in 1983. Leonard was a member of the Hudson AMVETS Post #82.
He is survived by his wife Marlys of Hudson, two sons: Richard Wyatt of Waterloo, Iowa and Allan Wyatt of Waterloo, Iowa; two step sons: Gary and his wife Sheryl Hanisch of Walsenburg, Colorado and Dennis and his wife Christina Hanisch of Stratford, Connecticut; and six step grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Ruth Buck, and Beverley Smelser; four brothers: Raymond, Don, Cecil and Harold Wyatt.
