Lee Steven Adams, 60, passed away Saturday September 13, 2008, at home in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Lee was born July 28, 1948 in Soperton, WI the son of Norris Cyrene and Anna Marie Adams. He attended Ankeny School and graduated in 1966. He attended Grandview College in Des Moines, IA for 2 years and also owned and operated a Fina gas station with his brother Larry. It was at this gas station that he met his future wife Diane. He transferred to UNI with Diane in 1968 and graduated with a BA in math and accounting.
On August. 14, 1971 he married Diane E. Kral. They continued to live in Cedar Falls where Lee worked for Goodyear Tires and Olsen Boat House. On October 17, 1976 Lee went to work for Phelps Imp. He managed the Reinbeck store. He later transferred to the Grundy Center store as comptroller.
Lee and Diane moved to Grundy Center in May of 1977.
Lee was an active Jay Cee member in Cedar Falls. He was a Boy Scout leader and also was an Eagle Scout and in the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Grundy Center and a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.
Lee loved to camp, go boating, (especially in the Ozarks) fish, play cards and spend time at his lake home in Montezuma, Iowa.
Lee?s greatest joy was time spent with his children, family and friends. Time sitting around a huge campfire laughing and talking will always be associated with Lee.
Lee is survived by his wife Diane, their three children, Steven who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ryan of Grundy Center and Shannon of West Des Moines, IA; two brothers: Larry and Nancy Adams of Chapin, IA, and Lyle and Julia Adams of Platte City MO; a sister Lana and Loren Fortney of Mankato, MN, nieces and nephews Cody and Christine Adams, Andrea, Michaela, Shayla, Samantha, Cyrena Adams and Rickilee Fortney Rose and Kim Severson, Deb Bahanish, Terri and Jim Severance, Lori and Randy Runge, and Melissa and Dave Jones, David and Deb Poindexter, Randy Phelps, and Devlin and Donna Reynolds.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents: Norris Cyrene and Anna Marie Adams.
