Lawrence Rohach

January 2, 1921 — December 23, 2005

Lawrence J. Rohach, 84, of Hudson, Iowa, died Friday, Decmeber 23, 2005, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, December 27 at 10:30 A.M. at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck. Father Dennis Quint will officiate. Burial will follow in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a Scriptural Wake Service held on Monday at 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.



Lawrence was born January 2, 1921 in rural Tama County, son of Jerry and Helen (Kalinay) Rohach. He was a WWII Veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp from June of 1945 until May of 1946. On January 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Lovelle E. Staker in Garwin, Iowa. He farmed in rural Reinbeck, raising grain and livestock, retiring in 1985. Lawrence was a member of Action Post 242 of the Reinbeck American Legion, a 50 yr. member of the Farm Bureau, and served on the board of directors for the Reinbeck Coop. He enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Polka Club of Iowa, and enjoyed playing Pepper with friends.



Surviving is his wife, Lovelle; sons, Larry A. (Connie) of Reinbeck and Lynn G. (Karen Bohnstemgel) of Hudson; grandchildren, Melissa (Todd) Heck of Newton and Michelle (Jon) Cubit of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Jarod and Megan Heck and Cody and Michaela Cubit; sisters, Blanche (Milo) Halupnick of Traer, Mildred Fleming of Traer, Mary (Paul) Hulme of Traer and Verna (Joe) Ottenheimer of River Forest, Illinois; and brothers, Charles (Lavina) Rohach of Gladbrook and Alfred (Rose Ann) Rohach of Cedar Rapids. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Albia Elias and Rozelle Wrede; and brother, Wesley Rohach.
