Lauren McCall

September 4, 1940 — March 12, 2012

Lauren H. McCall, 71, of Eldora, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Eldora Nursing & Rehab Center in Eldora due to complications of pneumonia. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 15th, 1:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Eldora with Pastor Mark Chapman officiating. There will be no visitation and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the First Baptist Church in Eldora or to Care Initiatives Hospice.

Lauren was born on September 4, 1940 in Eldora, the son of Howard & Thelma (Heltibridle) McCall. Lauren was raised in Eldora where he attended school, graduating from Eldora High School in 1958. Lauren was united in marriage to Sharon Elsberry on May 29, 1963 in Marshalltown. The couple welcomed three children into their family. Lauren and Sharon lived in Eldora for eight years after they were married and later lived in Winterset, IA, Wyoming, Kentucky and finally settling back home in Eldora. Lauren worked at O'Brien Chevrolet for many years, owned and operated "Modern Cleaners", a local dry cleaning business and worked as a parts manager for several years. Lauren attended Faith Baptist Bible College.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldora and was a long time member of the local Kiwanis. Lauren enjoyed antique motor scooters, small engines, home auto mechanics, loved history and anything to do with ships and airplanes.

Lauren is survived by his wife Sharon of Eldora; children Angela (Robert) Stretch of Marysville, Washington, Alex (Joni) McCall of Walton, Kentucky and Philip (Ann) McCall of Owasa, IA; grandchildren Kelli & Christina Stretch, Justin, Jeremy & Allie McCall and Nicholas, Derrick and Jordyn McCall; brother David (Kathy) McCall of Eldora; nephews Matthew & Andrew McCall; aunt Irene Nauman of Eldora. He was preceded in death by his parents.
