Laura May Beard

Laura M. Beard age 87 of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away on October 16, 2024 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. Laura was born December 19, 1936, in Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa, daughter of John and Norma (Meyer) Segebarth. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1955.  

On May 17, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Beard at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. The couple lived in Waverly until 1961 when they moved to Valparaiso, Indiana for 3 years. In 1964 they moved to Reinbeck, Iowa where they lived until present. Laura worked at various doctor offices for many years and most currently at the Reinbeck Currier from 2004 to 2013. 

She also was an active volunteered at the Red Cross, Covenant Medical Center, American Cancer Society, Waterloo Senior Center, and Salvation Army. Laura was a member of St John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. 

She is survived by her Husband Robert; daughters Cynthia Beard of Urbandale, Iowa and Lori Beard of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren Melissa Strawhun and Ryan Strawhun; sister; Carol (Dean) Bartels; 4 nieces, and 1 nephew. Laura was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa on Monday October 21, 2024, at 11:00am, a time for sharing and food will follow the service.

Laura will be laid to rest at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly, Iowa at 2:00pm on October 21, 2024.
