Larry Clark Vaughan, 64, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Unity Point Health Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Friday June 24, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, with a Masonic service conducted by The Emerald Lodge No. 334, held following the funeral service. Burial to be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Memorial may be directed to the family.
Larry was born to his parents Clark Cecil and Bernice Edna (Hall) Vaughan on September 4, 1951 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of Grundy Center and graduated from Grundy Center High School in the Class of 1969. He attended Ellsworth Community College and transferred to University of Northern Iowa and earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree in History. He was employed with Richelieu Foods Inc.
Larry was a 38 year member of the Grundy Center Masonic Emerald Lodge No. 334, where he served in most of their offices. At the time of his death he was the current longest member of the Grundy Center Lions Club, joining in 1975. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, IOOF.
Larry was a 52 year member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir for many years. Larry enjoyed singing and was a member of the Interfaith Men's Choir. He was an avid sports fan. He loved all sports especially baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Larry was a big supporter of Grundy Center Athletics and the UNI Panthers.
Larry is survived by his sisters Mary Win Vaughan of Garner, IA, Patti (Stephen) Paris of Kent, WA; brother Brent H. Vaughan of Grundy Center, Iowa; nephews Warren and Chris Paris and a niece Kelli McWilliams. He was preceded in death by his parents.
