Larry B. Teasdale, 72, of Grundy Center, Iowa died from natural causes on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, Iowa, following a private family inurnment in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Military honors will be provided by Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and AMVETS 17. Larry’s family will gather to receive friends at
Larry was born May 28, 1937, in Madrid, Iowa, the son of Thompson Edward (Tucker) and Margaret Naomi (Martin) Teasdale. The Teasdale family moved to Grundy Center when Larry was an infant and he attended school in Grundy Center. Larry graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1956. Following high school, Larry studied at the Coyne Electrical School of Chicago where he was trained and earned his degree as an electrician. He returned to Grundy Center where he joined his father, Tucker, and brother Tom at Teasdale Electric. On May 8, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Delores Rae Thoren at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Larry was a skilled electrician and practiced his trade with great enjoyment. He and Tom bought the business from their father and worked together for many years. Near their retirement, Teasdale Electric was sold to Konken Electric.
Larry lived his entire life as an avid fisherman and naturalist. The Teasdale family spent many summers vacationing in Minnesota in Lake City and, in later years, Lake Buchanan. He loved the outdoors and shared his knowledge of nature with his family, especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren were a great joy in his life. He was especially fond of attending sporting events and all activities involving Nathanial, Preston, Thompson and Linnea.
Larry was an advocate for Grundy Center and served his community in a number of ways, including; as a member of the school board, on the Community Center board, and on the board of The Mill. He was a fifty-eight (58) member of the United Methodist Church of Grundy Center where he served as a Trustee and on many other committees.
He was a member of the Army Reserve and trained in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents, Tucker and Margaret Teasdale, and granddaughter, Emileigh Hope Nibaur.
